Privacy Policy
Effective October 27, 2026
CorkScout is made by Dylan Zinck in Nova Scotia, Canada ("we"). This policy explains what the CorkScout app collects, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and there are no ads or tracking.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a password (stored scrambled, never readable by us), or your Sign in with Apple identity. If you sign in with Apple and share your name, we keep it with your account.
- Photos and dish descriptions you send: wine list (if you use one), menu and plate photos, and anything you type about your dish. These are sent to our server and to our AI provider to read them and choose your wines. CorkScout does not store your photos.
- Your pairing results (CorkScout Plus): the dish summary and the wines picked, so you can see them in History. We keep your most recent 15 pairings and delete older ones automatically.
- Favorites and taste preferences (CorkScout Plus): wines you save as favorites, and your answers to the taste questions. These are sent with each pairing so the picks suit you.
- Usage counts: how many pairings you've made this month, and short-lived counters to stop abuse. These are linked to your account and a random ID for your phone.
- Purchases: Apple handles all payments. We receive a record of which CorkScout Plus plan or extra pairings you bought, never your card details.
Your budget and display settings stay on your phone.
Who helps us run CorkScout
We use these service providers, only for running the app:
- Anthropic (Claude), the AI that reads your photos and chooses wines. Under its commercial terms, it doesn't use what we send to train its models.
- Supabase, which stores accounts, saved pairings and favorites.
- Cloudflare, which runs our server.
- RevenueCat, which keeps track of subscriptions and purchases.
- Resend, which sends sign-up and sign-in emails.
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple, payments and app delivery.
Some of these providers may process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data until you delete your account. In CorkScout, go to Settings and tap Delete account: your account, saved pairings, favorites and taste preferences are deleted right away. Server logs used to fix problems are kept for a short time and then deleted.
Your choices
You can change your taste preferences, remove favorites and delete saved pairings at any time in the app. You can ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it by emailing support@corkscout.app.
Age
CorkScout is about wine and is meant for adults of legal drinking age where they live. It isn't directed at children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
